Ethan Wood

Violinist Ethan Wood made his solo debut at the age of 11 with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra. He has since appeared with the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, and the Vancouver (WA) Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Wood has won many awards and competitions, including the Dale Gilbert Award and the Ivan Galamian Award from the University of Wisconsin, and the Cleveland Institute of Music concerto competition. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Wood is a regular member of Stephen Drury’s Callithumpian Consort and nec[shivaree], which has included a performance of Mr. Wood’s own String Quartet. He also appears with Eric Rosenblith’s International Musical Arts Institute, which premiered Mr. Wood’s String Octet.

As an orchestral musician, Ethan Wood has performed with the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Hingham Symphony.

Ethan Wood distinguished himself as a young performer with members of the Tasir Trio and the Kremona Quartet, which appeared on the radio show From the Top. He attended the Interlochen Arts Camp, Bravo!, Madeline Island Music Camp, Encore School for Strings, Margess International, and The Banff Centre.

Mr. Wood began his violin studies at the age of 4. He studied with Mark Bjork of the University of Minnesota and Vartan Manoogian at the University of Wisconsin. He finished his high-school education at the Cleveland Institute of Music in the Young Artist Program with David and Linda Cerone. He studied with Eric Rosenblith at the New England Conservatory, where he received his undergraduate degree. Mr. Wood is currently pursuing a Masters of Music degree at NEC with Lucy Chapman.
